Blood Pheasants on a Snowy Day

We were driving out of Lebugou, a border Tibetan village on the southern slopes of the Himalayas. The snow was heavy, and the traffic was terrible. Suddenly we ran into this big flock of blood pheasants. I took a few steps closer, went down on my knees, and they just came straight into me - fearlessly!

White snow (a little overexposed), dry sticks, and crimson-tipped plumage constituted a beautiful traditional Chinese painting.
